This will guide the people around you to make independent decisions where no clear direction has already been defined

You may have a clear understanding of why you are in business, you may have summarized it into a mission statement, business goals or an employee handbook. There will be situations and decisions that cannot be directly informed by the guidelines you have defined. What happens when you are not able to to see everything that happens, what is the guiding philosophy for your organization; how do people make decisions, how do you know that everyone is following a common set of ethics and behaviors.
